Sergeant Keto

Keto began his career with one of the most elite Navy SEAL teams before transitioning to law enforcement in 2021. About a year and a half later, he was stabbed by a suspect during an apprehension.  Keto refused to give up, giving officers the advantage of time and a distraction to take the suspect into custody thus keeping officers safe.  His bravery that day ensured justice. Thanks to his handler, our dedicated Director, Craig Sanders, along with his medical team, Keto made a full recovery and went back to work.

Unfortunately, though his body healed, Keto developed PTSD and was medically retired by his agency.  Craig and Keto share an unbreakable bond that was not going to be broken by retirement. Keto was brought into the K9SOH family, with Craig as his primary care giver, to assist in meeting any necessity Keto may face in retirement as Craig is still an active K9 law enforcement handler.

Keto celebrated his 8th birthday in October of 2025. He stays sharp with detection training; sports work and even showing off his skills with Craig at K9 Tactical Conferences. Off duty, he embraces his playful side just running around the compound with his Kong and puppy cousins.

From SEAL missions to the streets to a well-earned retirement, Keto’s story is one of courage, resilience, and heart.
